ATE Certification

PURPOSE

The Constitution and By-Laws of the Association of Title Examiners state that one of the objectives of the Association “shall be the providing of educational and industrial advantages” for its members.  In furtherance certification of the objective, the Association has developed a professional certification program for its members.  The Association, through its certification program, will recognize those members who have demonstrated superior knowledge and expertise in the area of title examinations.  The Association’s professional certifications will be the standard against which the knowledge and expertise of other title examiners will be measured, and will inspire Association members to educate themselves to improve their skills and achieve such certifications.  The Association, as a result, will have provided the state “educational and industrial advantages”.

OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

Two distinct certifications shall be awarded the Certified Title Examiner and the Senior Certified Title Examiner.  The Certified Title Examiner designation is for those members who are skilled at reviewing the land records found in the county courthouses for the purpose of ascertaining those recorded documents and information which affect a specific piece of real property and determining the present condition of title to that property.  The Senior Certified Title Examiner designation recognizes those examiners who posses the skills of the Certified Title Examiner, but in addition, because of experience and refined knowledge, are at the very top of their position.
